Never Stood Taller

My grandfather, Ray had recently accepted Jesus as his savior and my mom and I wrote this song about him
Never Stood Taller

When you’re poor
and the youngest of nine
You’re daddy’s gone
You learn to survive

Papa learned quick
Yourself - you can depend
Fighting for what he needed
Trip n’ fall – get up again
He would
Stand tall, stand strong

CHORUS
He never stood taller
Than when he’s on his knees
He never was stronger
Than when his head is bowed
I never was more proud
He thought he walked alone
With nothing but his own
Then when papa found Jesus
He never stood taller

He thought,
he was in control
The Consequences,
Were of his own
The weight of sin
Bearing on his soul
Life would take a heavy toll
But, he’d stand tall –stand strong

CHORUS
He never stood taller
Than when he’s on his knees
He never was stronger
Than when his head is bowed
I never was more proud
He thought he walked alone
With nothing but his own
Then when papa found Jesus
He never stood taller
