Casey Lee Smith

Born and raised in Arizona, Casey is the middle son of Tammy and Ron Smith. Since an early age, Casey has been singing and playing instruments, from the guitar and piano to drums and banjo.

In 5th grade on a dare, tried out for a Christmas program at his school. Not only did he get the part, he also received a solo part that left everyone begging for more.

Now 18, Casey has graduated with honors from the Arizona Conservatory for Arts and Academics with an academic diploma and an Arts diploma. He has received a full-ride scholarship from Grand Canyon University and at the same time has been asked to come to Nashville to work with an up and coming band. So, he'll be spending a lot of time in Nashville this summer and may end up deciding to put off school for a while.

The songs on this CD were produced and recorded in Nashville at the Black River Music Studio and Sound Stage. Produced and recorded by Recording Artist & Grammy Nominated Bryan Austin, Gavin MacKillop (Miley Cyrus, The Goo Goo Dolls) and Platinum Award Winning Mixer & Producer Rudy Haeusermann. Casey wrote and played guitar on all the songs, as well as most of the instruments on Chasin' Tin Cans. Bryan Austin, who also sings backing vocals with Casey and joined him on guitar.

Casey also has the distinction of being the winner of the Gospel/Inspiration category in the 2009 John Lennon Songwriting Contest (JLSC). The winning song "Never Stood Taller" was inspired by his grandfather, Ray Freeland, after having been diagnosed with cancer and his realization of his vulnerbility. Casey grandfather has been cured of his cancer and is so proud of this song. He's an accountant and during tax season would not let anyone leave before hearing his song played and them promising to go online to JLSC and vote for "Never Stood Taller" "Never Stood Taller" is available on his website, ITune and CDBaby.

In July, JLSC will be announding the winner of the Maxell Song of the Year award.
